Face Like Thunder - The Japanese House - Swim Against The Tide

I've loved The Japanese House for awhile now. I only recently discovered that it's a solo female act. The vocals in her songs are almost always edited to the point of androgyny so I could never quite figure it out until I actually googled it. This song is a slight departure from her normal style. Face Like Thunder is much more upbeat and bright than her usual fare and a great starting point to get into a really fantastic catalogue of songs.

No Man is an Island - The Script - Freedom Child

Hello mainstream artist. The Script, I love them and have since they first came on the scene. You generally know what you're going to get from them and that isn't the worse thing in the world. There's a certain comfort knowing what you're getting before you even hit play. No Man is an Island is from their newest album, released last week. The song starts out sounding like a pretty straight forward pop/rock song and then later throws in some reggae flavor in. I am a huge fan of the band MAGIC!(a reggae pop group famous for the song Rude) and parts of this song remind me of them, so it's a win from me.

Sun Comes Up - Rudimental feat. James Arthur - Sun Comes Up

I sang a James Arthur song this past weekend at a wedding, which is how I came across this song. The song starts off like I would expect most of James' work to and then switches to this great dance/pop groove with some islandy instruments in the background(I guess that's just my vibe this week) which I'm assuming comes from Rudimental an artist I hadn't come across before. This song was such a pleasant surprise while doing some good ole wedding work.

Company - Pepa Knight - Company

I've had this song in my playlist for a long time and in my short lists for Music Monday the past few weeks. Sadly it didn't make the cut until now because I try and keep a solid balance of old and new songs as well as different styles. Today is it's time to shine though. The chorus is so catchy and the verses are very laid back vocally with these great drums keeping things moving. The crunchy synth that really shines around 2:20 is my absolute favorite part of this song.

Summers & Winters - Andreas Moe - Maybe It's All We Dreamed Of

Andreas Moe, I love a lot of his stuff and have been trying to decide what song of his to share on here since I started the blog and thankfully I waited. This gem came out last Friday. The beginning is a very Bon Iver inspired piece that almost feels like a separate intro song and then strolls right into the more classic Andreas Moe sound. I just find his sound super enjoyable and I expect you will too.

Roses - Carly Rae Jepsen - EMOTION SIDE B

Listen, Carly Rae Jepsen is so much more than Call Me Maybe. She is, in my opinion, one of the better pop artists out there right now. Catchy songs, fun and even sometimes deep lyrics. She has a recognizable voice and style that I think is just underrated by too many. Give her a chance again, listen to Roses you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for joining me again. See you next week.
